Chattahoochee Cheese Market opened in 2019 with a simple mission: bring exceptional artisan cheese to Helen, Georgia. Just months later, COVID changed everything. Instead of closing their doors, the Cheese Girls adapted. They created a pickup window and continued serving their community when comfort and connection mattered most. Through lockdowns and uncertainty, they kept the case stocked and their commitment strong. Something powerful followed. Locals became loyal regulars. Visitors spread the word. What began as a small cheese shop quickly became a trusted Helen destination. From a pandemic pickup window to a thriving downtown staple, Chattahoochee Cheese Market stands as proof that passion, perseverance, and community can build something lasting. And we are just getting started.
Why Alpine Helen?
Our families have deep roots in this Alpine village. We grew up exploring these mountains and swimming in the Chattahoochee. We learned early that what makes Helen special is not just its beauty, but the way it welcomes people and becomes part of their story. We have seen generations come back. Honeymoons turn into anniversaries. Family trips turn into lifelong traditions. Helen is more than a destination. It is a place people carry with them. When we dreamed of opening Chattahoochee Cheese Market, there was only one place it belonged. Here. We set out to create something that adds to what makes Helen meaningful. A shop that serves the locals who built this community and the visitors who choose it again and again. A gathering place rooted in home, hospitality, and exceptional cheese!
